Abstract: | Health psychology is a rapidly expanding discipline at the interface of psychology and clinical medicine. This important work collates international and interdisciplinary expertise to form a unique encyclopaedic handbook to this field which will be valuable for both medical practitioners and psychologists from trainee to professional level. Intended primarily as a reference text, it is expected that readers will seek out particular chapters for particular purposes. To facilitate this, chapters have been alphabetically organised with extensive cross-referencing. The first of three sections introduces the non-specialist reader to broad areas of psychology relevant to the practice of medicine. The second and third follow behavioural factors in relation to practice through to an analysis of specific medical conditions. Coverage is broad - an invaluable resource to all those with an interest in health issues, promotion, and care. |
