I’m taking part in an online conference organised by JISC — Innovating E-Learning 2006: Transforming Learning Experiences. Haven’t actually posted yet, but thought that I’d post reflections etc here as well as on the forum. My paper on authenticity is up for discussion on Thursday & Friday. I don’t really know why I’m so interested by the concept of authenticity — I’ve still to get to the bottom of it. I think the first texts I remember reading on the subject were Lionel Trilling’s Sincerity and Authenticity, and some of Stanley Fish’s essays on irony & authenticity in Paradise Lost; and what I liked about the word was its mask-like nature, particularly in relation to intentionality. It seems to question itself, and me: so you think this is truly authentic? Really?
