NCBE Annual Bar Admissions Conference

The National Conference of Bar Examiners (NCBE) is a not-for-profit body that exists to work with other institutions to develop, maintain, and apply reasonable and uniform standards of education and character for eligibility for admission to the practice of law; and to assist bar admission authorities in various ways. I was invited to speak at a session entitled ‘Globalization comes to Main St’, along with Laurel Terry and Alan Treleaven.  I’m attending the conference, largely because it’s not something I can drop into (it’s being held in Savannah, GA), but also because I know so little about the organization and culture of the state bodies that, effectively, operate as gatekeepers to the profession in the US.  So I’ll be learning a lot in the next couple of days, and really looking forward to that.

I’ll be liveblogging the sessions I attend, as usual, and tweeting too, though that will be restricted because the Regency Hyatt’s terms of basic wireless connectivity limits it only to one device, so blogging on macbook/ipad & tweeting on iphone is out.  Excuse a micro-rant, but how bizarre, on so many levels.   Sorry sir, if you want to eat your dessert with a dessert spoon that’ll be $10 extra.  Pay basic, you use your fork for everything.  Have a nice day.
