The Student Law Office (SLO), or law clinic, is one of the most fascinating elements of Northumbria's Law School. I'll be writing about it more in the future, but yesterday we held a research day, where we discussed directions for research on clinical and experiential learning. Carol Boothby and I led it — a mix of brief presentations, general discussion and group discussion.
Around twelve staff attended, and to be honest, I really enjoyed it. I was feeling pretty jaded for a number of reasons and was late (travelling down from Glasgow on the 0600 train, and two swans decided to take an early morning constitutional along the line at Berwick…); but once we got started it was remarkable how many great research projects came out of the SLO's practice, and just needed time away from desks & emails & all the other distractions for us to identify and clarify them. So thanks to the SLO group for their energy and enthusiasm! Already planning the next day, and got a Ning group up & running.
